Boarding House @ Ettalong Beach Proposed

Created on Friday, 21 February 2014 00:46

Gosford City Council has received an application for a three storey, thirty (30) room board- ing house at corner of Ferry Road and Ocean View Road, Ettalong Beach. The application will be on exhibition until 26th February. The Chamber has raised serious concerns over the appropriateness of the develop- ment in this location. It has urged Council to ensure that that a full Social Impact Assessment is prepared and that a comprehensive crime assessment is completed. It is the Chambers view that such facilities should be located close to support services and public transport rather than in relatively isolated locations. The Chamber has also written to the NSW Planning Minister, Brad Hazzard to request that ‘Boarding Houses be removed from the LEP as a permissible use in areas incapable of providing support services’. We will also make representation to Gosford Council for their support as many other Coun- cils are doing at present. Parramatta & Hurstville Councils have refused the same on the grounds of ‘inconsistent with the street’s character” and “incompatible with established & future residential character of the area”
